The state's Department of Children and Families has established a new policy for its Florida Abuse Hotline following the death of baby Chance Walsh. “As a result of our review of this case, when any call is made to the hotline going forward, when the (caller) or the department has knowledge of a prior child fatality in the same family, the hotline counselor is required to escalate the case immediately and consult with a supervisor,” DCF Secretary Mike Carroll said.
